“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” Proverbs 11:25 ESV

I stumbled across this verse as I was doing some morning reading, trying to get it in before the house awoke pulling me to all my “duties” for the day.

This verse stuck with me and has for weeks now.

Water for Water…

Throughout scripture, Christ himself is referred to as “living water” – the one thing our frail human bodies need so desperately. And the promise here is utterly special if you stop to think about it.

As I water – He promises to water me back.

>> I make time to phone a friend who is struggling :: He waters me.

>> I extend grace and forgiveness to someone who has hurt me :: He waters me.

>> I follow His voice and step out of my comfort zone :: He waters me.

>> I serve my community by being on the front lines :: He waters me.

>> I make time to play with my kids :: He waters me.

>> I walk with a friend who is mourning :: He waters me.

I could go on and on!

Here is the truth. The God of all, who owes me nothing, desires to keep me nourished and whole as I serve Him. His goal for us is not to just survive, it’s to thrive in His special care. And that, my friends, is a brilliant promise worth holding onto today.
